Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy is a technique which involves the application of direct pressure to hypersensitive muscle tissue, ligaments or fascia. When the trigger point is palpated, there may be local tenderness felt or it may cause referred pain. Trigger points not treated can cause chronic pain as well as weakening and shortening of the muscle.
The most common causes of trigger points include:
- Work related injuries
- Repetitive activity
- Motor vehicle injuries
- Sporting injuries
